First rule of dealing with hot vampire bodyguards? Don't fall in love.
After losing both her parents before age seventeen, aspiring designer Caitlin Holte feels like her whole world has been turned upside down, and that was before the terrifying encounter with a supernatural force. Then, she learns that her hot bad-boy neighbor, Adrian—who might have just saved her life—is actually a half-demon vampire.
Suddenly Caitlin is stuck with a vampire bodyguard who feels that the best way to protect her is to become her pretend boyfriend. Trouble is, Caitlin is starting to fall in love for real, while Adrian can never love a human. Caitlin trusts Adrian to keep her safe from his demon father, but will he be able to protect her heart?

I bought this a while back on my kindle but never got around to reading it..until i picked it up last night at 10.30 p,m and i did not put it down.

Caitlin is IMPOSSIBLE not to love, She's this snarky bad ass girl that throws a few tantrums but it kinda looks cute. She has this unique take on the world and honestly reading from her point of view could make any book cool because she was just so funny and vibrant the narrative would just make you outright smile. Most of all despite her awesomeness i appreciated the humane side of her, She just lost her parents so she's sad and she's living with her aunt and uncle who didn't really speak to her parents. Needless to say she's extremely bitter and her relationship with her family is quite rocky,

Adrian, my drool could drool for you!!! He's hot! He's a bad ass! BUT he's not a jackass and he is so adorable because he blushes and stuff! So different from the typical overconfident YA guys. He had substance and emotion, he was just so adorable. You definitely had this twilight vibe where he's a loner and he's got brothers and sisters and blah blah but the similarities stop there. Trust me, this is way better than twilight. Adrian was a loner because he wasn't allowed to be friends with humans but Caitlin kinda allows him to open up and be himself-again i mention he is sweet and adorable and nerdy! If that doesn't get to you i'm just gonna say it; he has a six pack. Just thought i'd throw that out there ;)

Romance wise i think everyone will love this aspect because it has no insta-love. There is a certain degree of attraction but mostly just banters and fights and swearing and then they become friends. Yes people they become FRIENDS FIRST! And it takes a while before they start opening up to the possibilities of feeling more. It was a well developed relationship and nothing was rushed. It was so well written that i could actually feel the moment Caitlin realized she was in love with Adrian.

The plot was great and really tied Caitlin and Adrian together, The explanations were a teeny tiny bit scientific but i managed to understand it(thank you o level bio!) but i think the author meant for it to be complicated so that Caitlin could express her "i'm-gonna-make-this-more-understandable-for-us-humans" moment, There were parts that were quite predicable but it didn't bother me because i was totally immersed in the characters in the love story so if you're looking for something with a complex plot and twists and turns you might not really get into this one. But if you're looking for a sweet and awesome love story with a supernatural twist then read this pronto!

I've gotta put in a few lines for Lucien, Adrian's little brother who was rescued from hell. So basically having been raised in hell, he doesn't know how to behave or act and he's never had a body before so yeah that's a pretty massive adjustment, He was absolutely adorable and reminded me of a tiny little monkey always hanging around stuff and acting all innocent! I just had a soft spot for the cutie, despite the fact that he was raised in hell with a demon father...

To conclude, it was a great quick and entertaining read with a beautiful and complex love story recommended to everyone who wants a love story with a supernatural twist! I'm guessing the next book will delve more into the vampire world and it's politics so i'm looking forward to that! The sequel goes into the top of my TBR!
